For more than 68 years, Mule City Specialty Feeds has proudly provided North Carolina farmers and animal owners with the highest quality specialty feed.

Founded by the Dunn family—first by Robie, then carried forward by his son Paul since 1995—Mule City has remained dedicated to crafting custom feeds tailored to each animal’s unique needs.

Now, we’re excited to share that Paul, while still involved here at Mule City, has established a succession plan to ensure Mule City continues serving our valued customers for generations to come. Earlier this month, Paul transitioned ownership to pioneering food and beverage entrepreneur Matt Matros, setting the stage for a promising future.

After working in marketing at Kraft Foods, Matt saw firsthand how industrial food products impact human performance.

In 2009, he left Kraft to launch Protein Bar & Kitchen, a restaurant chain centered on high-protein foods. He later founded Drink Limitless, a beverage company focused on sustainable coffee farming.

Matt is eager to collaborate closely with Paul and Mule City’s General Manager, Loni Jones, to ensure Mule City thrives for the next generation.

Joining them is Mason Judy, a recent NC State graduate with a B.S. in Poultry Science and a Minor in Feed Milling. Mason brings valuable experience from his time in Mountaire Farms’ management development program.
